Postnatal Care

 

All postnatal care will take place in your home.

 

We will visit often in the first few weeks, and usually discharge you from our care around 6 weeks after the birth of your baby.

 

We will help you with:

 

Breastfeeding (if that is your choice)

Formula feeding (if that is your choice)

Recovering from birth and postnatal checks

Newborn checks including monitoring weight gain, metabolic screening, hearing and hip checks

 

We are also here to help you:

 

Adjust to life as a new parents

Refer you or your baby to specialised care if necessary

Refer you to our local lactation consultancy service

Refer to Well Child Provider (Plunket)

Refer you to your GP for follow up care if necessary

Discuss contraception choices

Provide you with information on immunisation (if that is your choice)
